E215 is a food additive approved by the European Union (EU) and is used as an antifungal and antibacterial synthetic preservative in food products and cosmetics.
E215 is also known by the chemical name sodium ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate.
This preservative is banned in Australia.
Examples of food and drink products that sometimes include E215:
- cheese
- margarine
- relishes
- salad dressings
- medicines
