Vitrectomy
A vitrectomy is an ophthalmic procedure to remove all or part of the vitreous humour of the eye.
A vitrectomy may be necessary as part of surgical procedures to treat problems at the back of the eye.
Situations in which a vitrectomy may be appropriate include:
- Detached retina,
- Diabetic retinopathy, and
- Vitreous floaters.
