Pneumoretinopexy
Pneumoretinopexy is a surgical technique in which a tiny bubble of an inert (that is, not chemically reactive) gas is injected into the eyeball to press and seal breaks in the retina.
A subsequent stage in the same operation might involve a laser beam or cryoretinoexy to permanently seal parts of the retina that had previously been torn or detached.
Patients can generally obtain information about this, and other procedures, from their ophthalmologist (ophthalmic surgeon).
