Natural Points
Natural Points are one of the many forms in which certain naturally occurring crystals, gemstones and minerals are found and extracted from the earth.
Many people consider natural points to be among the most beautiful and most interesting natural crystal structures. One reason for this is that the shape of the points is often a magnified version of the micro-structure of the crystal itself and so enables students and scientists to study and learn more about these natural wonders.
The crystalline structures of natural points are generally formed in such dramatic shapes as a result of the chemicals present at the time of formation (under particular physical conditions, e.g. of temperature and pressure) adhering to each other as they join the growing structure from surrounding gases as the vapours cooled or were subjected to higher pressures within the earth.
Another type of naturally formed crystal structures are crystal plates.
