MRI is one of many modern techniques used to obtain information about the state and condition of the body. An MRI scanner is a device in which the patient, or the subject (of an experiment), normally lies within a large, powerful magnet. There are some models of MRI scanners in which larger people who cannot fit into and ordinary MRI scanner can be scanned in a seated position instead.
