The gluteus medius muscles are a pair of muscles located in the buttocks and responsible for the movement of the thighs.

Origin, Insertion and Actions of the Gluteus Medius muscle:

Points of Origin:	Upper posterior surface of the ilium bone
Points of Insertion:	Lateral surface of the greater trochanter (at the top) of the femur bone
Action(s):	Flexes and inwardly rotates the hip Extends and outwardly rotates the hip.
