Oak (Bach Flower Remedy) is one of the 38 Bach Flower Remedies.

Bach flower remedies are selected based on the emotions a person is experiencing at the particular point in time at which he or she uses the remedies.

Oak may be appropriate when some or all of the following characteristics apply:

  • reliable
  • dependable personalities
  • people who never give up, persisting in their endeavours and often helping others as well - but who can eventually feel despondent or despairing under the weight of so much effort or responsibilit.

The oak Bach flower remedy may be a 'type' remedy. That is, it may describe the basic personality of someone, as well as possibly describing a transient state, characteristic, or feeling of other people whose overall personality is not necessarily 'oak'. If the oak remedy is indicated at a particular point in time then it might help then, regardless of whether or not the person is usually an 'oak type'.

The oak Bach flower remedy is categorized in the 'despondency or despair' group of remedies, which also includes larch, pine, elm, star of Bethlehem, sweet chestnut, willow and crab apple.

Many books about Bach Flower Remedies suggest that most people can benefit from them at some times and/or during certain types of circumstances. The main question at any particular time is which of the remedies is appropriate for the specific person (or animal) at that time, remembering that the choice need not be of just one remedy. Although it is possible to use only one remedy at a time, a small group of remedies is often selected and used together.
