Cicatrix is the medical term used for what is commonly referred to as a "scar". The word cicatrix is used to refer to a variety of dermal and epidermal changes associated with wound healing and resulting in fibrous tissue replacing normal tissue in the affected areas.

The adjective associated with cicatrix is "cicatricial".

Cicatrix is included in this section because it is a type of skin lesion. Study of skin lesions is required as part of many courses in aspects of health and holistic therapies, especially bodywork therapies.
