The continent of Africa

The continent of Africa covers approx. 20.4% of the Earth's total land area.

Separated from southern Europe by the Mediterranean Sea, the continent of Africa is joined to Asia by the Isthmus of Suez. It is the hottest continent on earth with approx. 60% of its land surface consisting of drylands and deserts.
