What is Dentistry ?

Dentistry is the branch of healthcare concerning the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders and conditions of the oral cavity (that is, the mouth - see structures of the mouth), and associated structures.

Professionals who are qualified to examine, diagnose and treat dental diseases, disorders and conditions are called dentists. They often work with a team of trained and qualified support staff including e.g. dental nurses, dental hygienists, dental technicians, together with their administrative staff of receptionists, etc..
